Self-assessment meets adaptive learning

Visualizing Learning Progress with the Rating Element and Level Maps

Empower learners to take control of their own learning journey.

In our latest demo, a student rates their confidence in Physics using the Rating element in Content Designer. This self-assessment triggers the automatic unlocking of activities that match the student’s chosen level — providing a personalized and adaptive learning path.

Adaptive learning in action

The Rating element allows learners to reflect on their current understanding and decide how ready they are to move on. Based on their self-rating, the corresponding activities become available.
When the learner indicates that they feel ready for the final test, that activity is unlocked as well — ensuring a natural, self-paced progression through the course.

Visualizing the learning path with Level Maps

To make this adaptive process even more tangible, the course uses Level Maps.
Level Maps turns your course into a visual canvas where each activity can be placed freely and represented by custom images. Different icons or visuals can indicate whether an activity is locked, available, or completed — giving learners a clear, intuitive overview of their progress.
You can even set a background image to create a themed or story-based learning journey.
