Moodle 4.5 – 5.2

Dash 2.7 brings together everything since Dash 2.5. Public dashboards work for visitors who are not logged in, filters with only a few options appear as buttons, large amounts of data load faster, and Dash now supports Moodle 4.5 to 5.2.

Improved 01 / 12

Public dashboards for every visitor

Dash blocks on a public dashboard load their content and filters for visitors who are not logged in. Visitors stay anonymous, unless Auto-login guests is on: then they are logged in as guest, as before Dash 2.5, and see your guest policy first if your site has one.

Login instead of an error

Visitors who are not logged in and open a dashboard that is not public go to the login page and then straight back to the dashboard, instead of seeing “You do not have access to this dashboard”. Dashboards in a course no longer show the course index, which sent visitors to the login page.

Improved 03 / 12

Filter buttons

Filters with only a few options appear as buttons. Two new settings decide up to how many options (Filter buttons: maximum options, default 4; “All” doesn’t count) and in which layouts. Slider and masonry get buttons too.

More in the details area

Add your own content to the details area of a card, and open the details from the card’s image.

Improved 05 / 12

Calendar events by course

The calendar events data source can be limited to the current course or its subcourses, and has new date-range fields.

New 06 / 12

More conditions and fields

A new condition, Online users, more enrolment states, and support for custom fields with several categories.

Improved 07 / 12

Faster, complete exports

Exports include all data, not only the first page. Large data sets load faster, only the filters in use are loaded, and role assignments need fewer database queries. Pagination in the grid layout only shows when there are at least two pages.

Fixes

My enrolled courses no longer includes enrolments that start in the future. Fixed: the course completed field of course completions, badges that aren’t available, the first page of activity completion in table mode, adding the calendar events data source, the competency progress widget and category images in the grid layout. The Skill graph widget is now called Competency graph. Dash for Workplace: its data sources and widgets appear in the edit form again.

For administrators

Switch off single Dash addons in config.php, find the developer settings in a clearer structure, and read the new guides for administrators and managers in the Documentation Center.

Platform 10 / 12

Moodle 4.5 to 5.2

Dash 2.7 supports Moodle 4.5, 5.0, 5.1 and 5.2.

Upgrade 11 / 12

Update block and plugin together

With Dash Plus, Pro or Premium, update the Dash block and the Dash plugin of your plan to 2.7 together: Dash 2.7 doesn’t upgrade against an older Dash block. Back up your site first. Two things behave differently afterwards: a filter with “All” and four options is now shown as buttons, and with Auto-login guests on, visitors of public dashboards are logged in as guest.

Upgrade 12 / 12

Check the filter button layouts

After the upgrade, open Site administration › Plugins › Blocks › Dash and look at Filter buttons: layouts. If no layout is selected, select Grid, Slider and Masonry and save. Saving the page with nothing selected switches filter buttons off for every Dash block.
