• Course roles: Notify users based on their role within the course (e.g. students, teachers, non-editing teachers).
• Group-aware role targeting: Send notifications to role holders within the same course group as the triggering learner, with intelligent fallback to course-level roles if no group-specific recipient exists.
• User context roles: Meaning users outside the course (such as parents, mentors, or coaches) can receive notifications
• External recipients: Send notifications to predefined external email addresses (e.g. HR departments, support teams, or third-party stakeholders), even if they are not enrolled in the course.
• Capabilities: Ensuring only users who are meant to receive notifications get them
