Pulse activity feature
Pulse provides a refined confirmation workflow that requires learners to actively acknowledge or confirm information before an activity is marked complete. Unlike Moodle’s standard “manual completion” setting, this action cannot be undone, ensuring a reliable and permanent progress record.
Use cases include:
- Consent agreements (e.g., privacy policies or safety instructions)
- Mandatory acknowledgments before accessing content
- Irreversible learning-path choices
- Legal or compliance confirmations
- Tracking offline or real-world activities
- Student checklists without risk of accidental unmarking
Course creators can customize the confirmation button text (e.g., Confirm, Acknowledge, Approve, Choose) and optionally display a modal with additional explanatory text. This ensures that confirmations are explicit, intentional, and well documented.

Once the confirmation is finished, the button disappears, and the Pulse activity is marked as completed according to the completion requirements.
Here, the user must confirm a modal showing the compliance guidelines they were required to read first.

In this example, the user is required to choose a learning path. Depending on their selection, different content will be made available.
