This optional setting can be enabled via the global avatar settings. When active, a user’s primary avatar is displayed next to the bell icon in Moodle’s top navigation.

If a user has collected multiple avatars, a hover effect reveals the rest of their collection as expandable thumbnails — allowing instant access to all avatar details without opening a menu. This is especially useful when profile image synchronization is disabled, offering a separate, eye-catching display area for avatar-based identities.

With the popover display active, users see all collected avatars in the main navigation. Elarion the elf is highlighted on hover and can be set as the primary avatar by clicking his icon.
